A managed services provider has expanded with the acquisition of a family-run business in Scotland.
Kent-headquartered Apogee Corporation, which provides document solutions, managed print services and digital equipment, has completed the takeover of Direct Business Systems (BDS), which sells copiers, printer, scanners and also provides support services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Glasgow-based DBS, established in 1995, has whiskey firm Whyte & Mackay, deaf/blind charity Sense Scotland and logistics specialist the Malcolm Group among its clients. The deal will see BDS merged into the Apogee Group, with current directors Eric and Anne Chambers continuing to manage the business.
The acquisition, the third Apogee has completed this year, is part of its plan to expand in Scotland, across the UK and in Europe. The company recently secured “significant investment” from private equity house Equistone Partners Europe to target growth opportunities.
Jason Collins, joint chief executive at Apogee, said: "Expanding our operation in Scotland has been one of our priorities for this year and I’m really delighted we have completed the DBS acquisition and achieved this goal.
"The reputation DBS has is phenomenal, Eric and Anne have built a business with true customer vision and great service support, and I’m looking forward to welcoming them into the Apogee Group to drive our growth in Scotland."
Eric Chambers, Managing Director of DBS, said: "As part of the Apogee Group we will be able to help our customers embrace the benefits of more advanced document and process technology, the portfolio and specialist resources Apogee has in-house is impressive and we are very excited to be part of this.”
Apogee's recent acquisitions include Balreed and Kon-x Wales Limited.
