The Lucozade and Ribena brands have been consolidated by owner GSK ahead of a planned sale of the firm's drinks brands.
A probable sale was announced earlier this year with GSK deciding that the two brands could be divested as part of a broader strategic review and streamlining of its business.
Plans are now starting to come to fruition and a new management team has already been created for the drinks. Led by Peter Harding, who has been GSK's general manager for consumer healthcare in Great Britain and Ireland for the past three years, the new team will include a new UK and Ireland marketing director, Carol Smith, current international marketing director, Jon Roberts, Ireland country manager, Rory Brennan, and sales director, Gareth Smyth.
Mr Harding commented on the team's plans to Marketing Week: “My goal is to continue to drive success on Lucozade and Ribena by executing our highly competitive plans for 2013. Our advertising and promotional spend behind these brands will continue as will our investment in new product development.”
GSK is working on other new products and approaches for its consumer healthcare division, as well as focusing on the restructuring of its European operations and drug manufacturing and research. There is no suggestion that the Ribena and Lucozade sale won't go ahead as part of the broader restructuring plans.
