The only commercial heliport in London has been put onto the market by its owner Von Essen Aviation Ltd.
London Heliport is said to be of interest to buyers including Joe Bamford, owner of construction equipment manufacturer JCB, and the former owner of Harrods department store, Mohammed Al Fayed.
Two other high-profile, unnamed bidders, are also said to be showing strong interest in the heliport.
Von Essen Aviation Ltd – which is owned by the founder of the Von Essen hotel chain, Andrew Davis, is a separate entity to the hotel chain, which fell into administration in April this year.
The hotel portfolio is currently being sold off to new buyers by administrators Ernst & Young.
Andrew Davis also owns one of the largest helicopter charter firms in the UK, PremiAir, which operates London Heliport. Davis acquired the heliport for £50 million in 2007 and constructed a new passenger terminal last year.
The asking price for the London Heliport is tipped to be around £40 million, according to Corporate Jet Investor.
There are reports that some of the interested buyers may close the heliport and construct apartments on the prime site on the south bank of the River Thames.
The successful purchaser will acquire a fast growing, leading independent recruitment agency, providing temporary, contract, an permanent positions and solutions across various sectors nationwide.
