Insurance services group Jensten has continued to grow through M&A after striking a deal for a Hastings-based broker. The acquisition of Chris Knott Insurance Consultants brings in an additional £6.1 million Gross Written Premium (GWP) to Jensten, as well as a dedicated team of 19 professionals.
Chris Knott Insurance Consultants specialises in both personal and commercial insurance lines, but is said to be best-known for its niche motor scheme, which is focused on classic cars and owners club vehicles. The company also has specialisms in insurance for canine-related activities, small charities, allotments and photographers.
The deal is Jensten’s fourth acquisition of the year, with the company completing deals for community brokers Melville Burbage and schemes Specialist Henry Seymour & Co earlier this month and taking over lift and escalator industry insurance specialist Robert Gerrard & Co in April.
The acquisition of Chris Knott Insurance Consultants, which is subject to regulatory approval, will significantly bolster Jensten’s presence in the South East and London, building on the group’s 2023 acquisition of Berns Brett.
Following integration, Chris Knott’s schemes-based niche personal lines business will report to Jensten’s Managing Director for Personal Lines Karl Scott, while the commercial lines business will be integrated into the London and South East region, under regional Managing Director David Skinner.
Jensten Retail Managing Director Rob Organ commented: "The acquisition of Chris Knott Insurance Consultants represents a significant step forward in our strategic efforts to strengthen our presence in the London and South East region.”
"This acquisition not only enhances the scale and reach of our commercial lines division but, by integrating Chris Knott’s expertise in classic cars and owners club vehicles, also enriches our portfolio with new unique scheme and niche personal lines capabilities.".
Chris Knott Insurance Consultants Managing Director Neil Franklin said that Jensten shared the firm’s dedication to client service, saying this made them " the obvious choice for us to partner with.”
He continued: "Joining Jensten will enable us to leverage the resources and reach the business has built, allowing us to provide an even better service to our clients."
