Cornwall-based Bush Telegraph Company Ltd has been liquidated and its customer contracts have been bought by a larger rival firm.
Bush Telegraph, a telecommunications firm, entered voluntary liquidation on Wednesday (28 May) and it has since been revealed that IP Office Ltd, also an IT and communications provider, has made a deal to take control of the company’s entire customer base. The acquisition, which was worth £750,000 for five years, will see more than 300 contracts change hands, mainly across Southern England.
IP Office, which employs 35 staff and has a turnover of over £4 million, is headquartered in Exeter but also has offices in London, Bristol, Plymouth, Cardiff and Portsmouth. Some of the customers that will be passed over include Truro College, Truro High School, Lanner Primary School, the Diocese of Truro and healthcare services provider Taylors of Grampound.
Mark Collett, managing director of IP Office, also stated that the company would take on three of Bush Telegraph’s engineers as part of the deal. He added that the new customers would benefit from being under the larger company’s care.
Mr Collett said: “The first thing customers will notice is that their service will be enhanced. Bush Telegraph was a substantially smaller company running 9am-5pm and customers would not see anyone on a year-to-year basis unless they had a problem.
“We are three times the size and their customers will now get our 24-7 cover and be able to contact us at any time. In addition, we are proactive in account management with a post-sale team and qualified engineers.
“We will be visiting customers personally to let them know what is happening, and who to call for support. We will talk about how we can help develop their business and they will see much more account management.”
