A stone fabrication specialist has expanded with the acquisition a national machinery supplier. Hull-based Stonegate Precision Tooling Ltd has acquired National Masonry Limited, which trades as Stone Equipment International, and the UK agency of Marmo Meccanica.
National Masonry has been the UK supplier of Marmo Meccanica machinery since 2010, with a primary focus on edge polishing machines. The sale comes after former Managing Director Andy Bell decided to step away from the business after 30 years running the company.
Following the deal, Bell will remain with the business in a consultancy role. He stated that, after deciding to step away, he wanted to ensure that National Masonry was “passed on to a safe pair of hands.”
He continued: “I assessed many options within the UK market and discovered that the values and ethos of Stonegate were close to, not only my own, but also those of Marmo Meccanica. I will be staying with the business in a consultancy basis and I am excited to be part of the next stage in the progression of National Masonry Ltd and Marmo Meccanica in the UK market."
Stonegate Precision Tooling Managing Director Graham Hazell commented: "Our mission is to put innovation at the core of our business and provide valuable advice that leads to an impeccable customer experience. We do this by working with fabricators and listening to their challenges, in order to provide the solutions and support they need to excel in what they do.”
"An established business like National Masonry Ltd, which has been brilliantly run by Andy for 30 years now, is a perfect addition to the Stonegate portfolio of solutions. We look forward to carrying on the excellent work and working closely with a prestigious company like Marmo Meccanica."
