A Dartford-headquartered provider of road safety services Highway Care has been sold to a Swedish firm.
Highway Care supports the highways industry to enhance levels of operative safety across the UK. It offers a broad range of products including permanent and temporary road barriers, mobile traffic products, automation systems, and security services.
It also offers hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) systems which are perimeter protection systems tested and rated to protect against any malicious or accidental vehicle incursions, including terror attacks, drink or drug driving incidents, driving errors and incursion into highways work zones.
It has been sold to Stockholm-based Ramudden Global, a provider of infrastructure safety services. It describes itself as the global leader of temporary traffic management (TTM) solutions for critical infrastructure, combining rental of TTM safety equipment, digital solutions, and services. With over 5,000 employees across 13 countries it has sales of €1 billion a year.
It has over 10,000 customers, including highway agencies, municipalities, and general contractors of all sizes across various infrastructure sectors such as road, civil, and utilities. It operates through five business units in 13 countries across Europe and North America.
The "milestone transaction" was said to strengthen Highway Care’s position in the market and marks the beginning of an "exciting new phase of growth under its new ownership".
The acquisition by Ramudden Global ensures continued investment in the company’s product development. This allows it to expand its reach and enhance its service offering in the road safety sectorâ.
Cardiff-headquartered law firm Hugh James successfully advised the shareholder of the acquired firm on its sale.
Leading the deal was corporate and commercial partner Andrew Hoad, supported by solicitor Daniel Burke. Hoad said: "It has been a great pleasure working with John and the Highway Care team throughout this sale. We congratulate Ramudden Global on their successful acquisition and look forward to seeing Highway Care continue to flourish under its new ownership."
John Talbot, founder and director of Highway Care Group Limited, added: "It was great to work with Andrew and his corporate legal team during the sale of my company. The team at Hugh James successfully guided us through the complexities of the matter, demonstrating their professionalism and in-depth knowledge throughout the entire process."
