Harrison Wipes has bought the business and assets of Coventry-based peer Ecotech (Europe) out of administration.
Ecotech produces more than 200 million wet and dry nonwoven wipes every year for the NHS, industrial operators and contract cleaning firms. However, it was hit by rising rent costs, with Robert Dymond and Joanne Hammond, of Begbies Traynor in Sheffield, appointed as joint administrators to secure its sale. All 27 jobs have been saved in the pre-pack deal.
Jason Lippitt, Ecotech director, said: “Business owners shouldn’t be frightened of seeking advice from insolvency practitioners. This is a perfect example of how businesses can be saved when everyone pulls together.”
Harrisons, whose roots date back 134 years, is a manufacturer of nonwoven wipes for a range of sectors from aerospace to automotive, education and catering. Ecotech will now be registered as Harrison Wiping Limited.
“This marks a significant milestone for us, as it’s the first time we’ll be manufacturing and distributing wet wipes. With this expansion, we’re looking forward to offering an even broader range of products while maintaining the same high standards of quality and customer service that define Harrisons,” it said. “Expanding our manufacturing capacity means we’ll have even greater flexibility to meet our customers’ needs. We are committed to taking a customer-first approach to the change of ownership, and the immediate priority is to optimise the level of service delivered to all Harrisons and Ecotech customers.”
Stephen Harrison, Harrison’s Managing Director, said: “It’s clear that Ecotech’s range complements our existing portfolio of products, so I’m excited by what’s next. I really believe that, together, we can set new standards in wiping”.
Lippit added: “Joining Harrisons is great news, and the team is already looking forward to the new chapter. Harrisons is a family business that is synonymous with the very highest standards in the industry, and we’re ready to roll up our sleeves and seize the opportunities this new platform for growth presents.”
The acquisition comes shortly after Harrisons announced a new logistics partnership with Magnum Logistics, “taking our supply chain to the next level through BREEAM-certified sustainable warehousing, access to up to 10,000 pallet spaces, and enhanced stock management technology”.
