Wed, 21 Aug 2013 | BUSINESS SALE
The intellectual property (IP) of upmarket juice company, Get Juiced, is to be put up for sale, along with the company's tangible assets.
Get Juiced was liquidated earlier this month after cashflow problems got the better of the business.
However, the company's liquidators, Johnston Carmichael, explained that the firm only narrowly went off track. A rapid growth period saw owner Frank Pawley run out of cash and pushed out of business. It has now been confirmed that the liquidator believes that a sale of the firm's assets could see it brought back into operation in a new guise.
Metis Partners, the Glasgow-based intellectual property specialists, have been asked by the liquidators to handle the sale of Get Juiced. Nat Baldwin, from Metis, told the Scotsman: “It is our primary intention to sell both the tangible and the intangible assets together so that Get Juiced can continue to be run as a business.”
Among Get Juiced's IP assets is its technology. The business owned an invention of scientists at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh that uses microwaves to kill bacteria in juice, allowing its shelf life to be extended without damaging any of its flavour or nutrition.
