A security firm based in Derby has expanded with the acquisition of a Burton-on-Trent-based counterpart. Monarch Security acquired Security Kings following an approach from the target company’s owner.
Monarch Security was set up by Farhaan Bhatti and Phil Wright during the COVID-19 pandemic and is based on Derby’s Pride Park. The acquisition came after Bhatti and Wright were approached by Security Kings owner Leigh Baldwin about taking over the business.
Leigh Baldwin commented: "Having built up a successful business, I was keen to diversify and the only people I trusted to take over Security Kings were Farhaan and Phil at Monarch Security. We have worked together for many years and I know that both the Security Kings clients and staff are in safe hands."
The acquisition of Security Kings increases Monarch’s existing security team, which provides services including manned guarding, mobile patrols, personal protection, key holding and alarm response for domestic and international clients.
Security Kings was founded in 2017 and provides a wide range of services, including retail and site security, key holding and alarm response to both businesses and residents.
Monarch Security co-director Phil Wright said that the merging of Security Kings operations into the company’s own was “an important step in our expansion plans.”
He continued: "We are particularly pleased with how we have grown in our own region of the East Midlands – expanding our local teams and vehicle fleet to protect premises and sites for businesses, organisations, individuals and families."
Farhaan Bhatti said that the approach from Leigh Baldwin demonstrated Security Kings’ “reputation for service excellence and the investment we have made in our systems, fleet and calibre of team members.”
He added that the company’s goal was “to be one of the region’s largest security companies” and that the addition of Security Kings’ clients and staff would be an important part of its future success.
Decentralising the owner is a crucial step for businesses seeking a sale
