Professional services firm Comms-care has completed the first acquisition in its 14-year history in order to meet increasing customer demand.
The Cheshire-based company, which specialised in channel services, has announced that it has bought Platform Consultancy Services. The deal will push Comms-care’s turnover beyond £30 million and will expand its range of IT services, particularly in adding expertise around Microsoft, VMware, Citrix and NetApp technologies.
Ben Davies, managing director at Comms-care, explained to CRN that the firm could not grow organically to meet the growing demand of customers. He added that Runcorn-based Platform Consultancy Services, which provides professional IT services to resellers, integrators and distributors, was chosen because of its channel-only ethos.
The deal will see the company’s workforce grow to more than 250 staff. It was also revealed that Platform's shareholders Andrew Mansfield, Sean Armstrong and Nigel Roberts would stay with the business.
Mr Ben Davies commented: “Platform is a perfect fit for Comms-care because it already delivers high-end IT professional services in technology areas that our customers have immediate requirements for.
“We invest substantial time forging close relationships with our customers to ensure our services proposition is aligned with the needs of their business, and the addition of Platform will bolster these relationships further by demonstrating our commitment to both them and the industry as a whole."
A team at HURST Corporate Finance advised Comms-care on the deal.
