3T Logistics & Technology Group, a Leicester-headquartered provider of cloud-based transportation management systems for logistics businesses in the UK and Europe, has been acquired by Aptean, a global software firm based in Georgia.
3T, which was founded in 2000, provides solutions that help shippers and carriers across the UK and in Europe drive cost reductions and improve services by enabling them to automate processes, optimise logistics scenarios and gain real-time visibility of every area of their shipping operations.
The company operates via its modular, app-based platform EVENT, which can be customised to meet the specific needs of the firm’s customers. Aptean says that the acquisition will add new capabilities to its transportation management systems (TMS) offerings for customers serving manufacturers and distributors in the automotive, industrial machinery, food and beverage, fast-moving consumer goods and building products markets.
Duane George, GM of EMEA and APAC at Aptean, commented: "Aptean is pleased to expand its TMS offerings in Europe with the addition of 3T's cloud-based EVENT platform. In today's challenging business environment, 3T helps organisations deliver their products with greater speed and efficiency, enabling them to compete at a global level."
3T founder and CEO Steve Twydell added: “Aptean shares our commitment to innovation and our solutions are highly complementary to Aptean’s existing ERP and SCM offerings for manufacturers and distributors. As part of Aptean we will be able to provide our customers with more solutions to enhance efficiencies and improve outcomes across their operations.”
The deal comes during a period of continuing M&A activity in the global logistics sector. Despite businesses in the industry having been heavily impacted by supply chain issues, geopolitical tension and rising inflation, many businesses have identified acquisitions as the ideal way to add technologies that improve their operations, build scale and expand geographically.
