Business property adviser Christie & Co. have supported the sale of a Hampshire-based care home to new owners by way of a share transfer.
Bluebell Nursing Home, established in Southsea, has been taken over by Eleanor Nursing and Social Care Limited – another family-owned care home business which operates across numerous locations in the South of England.
Bluebell boasts five terraced houses with 42 bedrooms over three floors, most of which have ensuite facilities. Three passenger lifts feature throughout the buildings, with an added basement area for ancillary services.
Its previous owner, Ian Smith, was the director of Techscheme and helped install a series of upgrades and digital improvements to the care home. He acquired the business in 2004 via Christie & Co.
Smith said: “This has been a real family business with my parents, myself and my son involved with the care home since we purchased back in 2004.
“It was felt that now was a good time to sell and my parents to retire from the sector and for me to further develop my digital care-based system DCA.
“We are pleased that my son Matthew will have an active role with the new owners who were keen to keep him employed at Bluebell.”
One of the directors at Christie & Co.’s office in Winchester, Charles Phillips, managed the sale of the business, and commented: “Having sold the home to Ian and his family back in 2004, it was a pleasure to be appointed their agent when the family decided to sell.
“A good level of interested was expressed for this well-performing home and I am confident that the home will prosper under the ownership of Eleanor Nursing and Social Care Ltd.”
