Online publisher TheBusinessDesk.com has bought West Business News, the owner of business news websites covering Bath and Bristol.
Founder Robert Buckland has joined TheBusinessDesk.com as its South West editor, as part of the publisher’s growth plans. He has led the development of Bristol Business News and Bath Business News for over a decade.
TheBusinessDesk.com was founded in Yorkshire 18 years ago and subsequently expanded into the North West, West Midlands and East Midlands. It launched in the South West in 2023.
It covers a range of business news across those regions including deals, events, property and manufacturing. It also publishes special reports on several sectors.
Lee-J Walker, who is joint managing director of TheBusinessDesk.com alongside Alex Turner, said: “This is a really exciting deal for us. It demonstrates our confidence in the growth strategy for our own business, as well as our commitment to the South West. Our editorial teams are part of their business communities and deliver the must-read news to senior business people and regional leaders every day. This creates a platform and audience for our busy programme of events and commercial partners and we’re eager to further develop our offer in the region. We are also keen to explore other opportunities as we look to grow TheBusinessDesk.com in the year ahead.”
Bristol Business News and Bath Business News have been a respected part of the South West’s online news since 2011, serving a loyal readership of business owners and advisers.
Robert Buckland said: “I’m really looking forward to being part of TheBusinessDesk.com and leading the growth plans in the South West. It is a region that is full of potential and I’m excited about providing high-quality business news to a much larger audience and benefit ting from the support of the wider team as we deepen our relationships with the business community.”
