Administrators from BDO have sold Gem Security Centre Ltd, which trades as GemSec, saving a total of 12 jobs.
The business has been sold to Gem Security Systems Ltd by the joint administrators on the day that the company entered administration, although there was “significant interest” in the firm from elsewhere.
Simon Girling, business restructuring partner at BDO, told Insider Media: “Gem Security Centre Ltd was exposed to difficulties as a result of the current economic climate and had become unable to grow its business from the infrastructure put in place in 2011.
"Principally, I am delighted that 12 jobs have been saved with the transfer of staff to Gem Security Systems Ltd and the business can now move forward on a secure financial footing.”
The business is based in Hengrove, Bristol, and provides ironmongery services, key cutting, access control and CCTV for individuals and companies around the country.
GemSec provides trained engineers and parts through its Trade Counter and has worked on a number of educational projects in recent years, including Clifton College and Ashton Park Comprehensive School, both of which required a substantial number of locks to be installed along with access control systems.
