An award-winning restaurant and bar business in the west of Scotland is for sale, after the owner has been forced to reluctantly move on.
The Elliston Bar and Grill, on Beith Road, Howwood, opened in August 2010 and has been a popular destination in the area since then.
Billy and Catherine Murphy opened the restaurant after they conducted a complete refurbishment of the property and snapped up various awards for their efforts. These included the Tam Cowan's Hot Plate Award in 2011 and Smooth Radio's Best Restaurant Award in 2010.
Mr Murphy explained that he is sorry to have to put the business up for sale, but noted to the Renfrewshire Gazette that he owns “quite a few other businesses and simple have taken the Elliston Grill as far as it can go”.
“It's such a popular place and has so much more potential so deserves an owner who can give it 100 per cent,” he added. “I'm extremely passionate about the restaurant and as it is so busy I can't give it my all with the other businesses.”
The restaurant is on the market for £380,000 and, according to the selling agents, it would be “ideal for a more hands-on owner/operator who could build on its reputation and increase the turnover further”.
