AFI Group has boosted its training services with the acquisition of a Barnsley-based training business.
AFI Group, which is headquartered in Wakefield, acquired certain assets of Astra Training after it went into administration. Backed by the private equity firm Rutland Partners, the purchase of Astra Training will not involve a change in the business name, but will mean that the firm will have access to the 20 training centres across the UK that are currently operated by AFI.
Astra Training specialises in providing health and safety training for a range of industries, including IPAF, PASMA, and Ladder Association working at height courses, as well as safety training and courses to develop construction skills.
As well as access to the AFI training centres, such as course venues in Liverpool, London, Birmingham and Wakefield, customers of Astra Training will now be able to hire from a fleet of 5,000 powered access machines.
Astra Access Safety Training went into administration on 27 February 2015, with Philip Booth from PR Booth & Co appointed as administrator.
