Cloud comms firm Babble has continued its acquisitive activity with deals to acquire two businesses in Yorkshire and Essex. The takeovers of Wakefield-based Yorkshire Telecom/Biscuit IT and Basildon-based ADSI bring Babble’s total acquisitions since 2018 to 19.
The two deals are already Babble’s third and fourth acquisitions of 2022 and represent a continuation of its buy-and-build growth strategy, through which it acquires local businesses which are embedded in their area. Babble says that acquiring regional businesses enables it to “continue to deliver solutions based on a business’ unique needs”, whilst also expanding its geographical reach.
The two deals, which follow Babble’s May 2022 acquisition of Stockport and Ellesmere Port-based IT and telecoms firm Active, mean that the company now has a presence in London, the South, Scotland, the Midlands, the North-West, the North-East and Yorkshire.
Yorkshire Telecom and Biscuit IT has a 390-strong customer base serving a wide range of sector across the North of England. The acquisition of the Wakefield firm will strengthen Babble’s offering in Cyber and Comms, while Babble adds that its “customer base of mid-size, growing companies is also perfectly positioned to benefit from Babble’s more extensive offering.”
ADSI is a significantly larger firm, serving 4,650 customers across the South-East and London, providing 30,000 O2 mobile connections. Babble says that this will add “huge scale” to its Mobile division, making the company the second largest O2 dealer in the UK. Babble adds that its existing customers “will benefit from this new expertise as well as access to ADSI’s market-leading Vision integrated operating platform.”
Post-acquisition, the full staff from both firms will join the Babble team, while Yorkshire Telecom MD Phill Burke and ADSI CEO Adrian Spreadborough will remain in consultancy roles to help ensure a smooth integration.
Commenting on the deals, Babble CEO Matt Parker said: “Acquiring Yorkshire Telecom and ADSI is a real win for us. Their customers are exciting, growing businesses with big ambitions and, aside from our own, are some of the most satisfied I’ve ever seen which is a huge credit to them. Yorkshire Telecom’s and Biscuit IT’s specialism of Comms and Cyber and ADSI’s excellent Mobile platform are areas where we feel we can add exceptional value for the businesses they serve.”
“Making sure their customers continue to receive the same level of service will be our top priority throughout the onboarding process. We know our success depends upon us continuing to provide our clients with the personalised and local service that they expect, regardless of where they are in the country. That’s what has taken us to where we are now and it’s something we’ll never lose sight of.”
