A Cheshire based building services contractor, ABS Engineering, has fallen into administration and a buyer has not yet been secured for the company.
The firm has been based at the Turnstone Business Centre in Widnes since 2007. Administrators from Cowgill Holloway - a financial services firm based in the North West - were called in and have been trying to sell the firm as a going concern. Speaking to The Insider, a spokesperson for Cowgill Holloway said, "We hoped to sell as a going concern as administration allowed the work in progress to be preserved. However, we were unable to complete a sale.”
ABS Engineering had been operating as a subcontractor specialising in electrical and mechanical engineering projects. It had worked on the construction of the St Helens and Knowsley Hospital PFI and the Salford MediaCity.
In October, ABS started work on a new Learning Commons building for the University of Manchester, in conjunction with MITIE Engineering Services.
The firm’s website states, ‘ABS Engineering Ltd is a dynamic company which provides a comprehensive range of building services offering to a wide range of clients and industries.’
The administrators at Cowgill Holloway blamed the insolvency on falling turnover.
