Business critical services group AAB has acquired Scottish professional services firm French Duncan. The deal is AAB’s eighth in the past 18 months, following October 2021 investment from August Equity, and its largest acquisition to date.
French Duncan has been in operation for more than 100 years and provides professional services throughout Central Scotland, with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. The firm has an employee headcount of more than 200, taking AAB Central Scotland’s staff to over 350.
The acquisition bolsters AAB Group’s existing specialist teams in corporate finance, business advisory, tax, audit and payroll/HR. The deal also doubles the size of AAB’s UK and Ireland restructuring and recovery team and brings more than 50 leisure and hospitality finance specialists providing bespoke hotel accounting services into the group.
AAB Group CEO Graeme Allan (pictured above with French Duncan's Graeme Finnie) said: "This is our largest strategic acquisition to date and significantly strengthens our market position in Scotland. We are truly delighted to welcome the French Duncan team to AAB.”
"We share a passion for supporting clients to achieve their goals by offering an unparalleled range of services to the businesses and individuals who choose to work with us, and I know our teams will be able to provide an even better service to our clients as a result of this deal."
French Duncan managing partner Graeme Finnie, who will take on the position of managing partner – Glasgow at AAB following the acquisition, added: "This deal is a superb next step for the French Duncan team. We have admired the journey AAB has been on and by joining the group ourselves we will create unmatched opportunities for our teams and our clients through enhanced technology, investment and expertise."
