A window and conservatory manufacturer based in Hull has entered liquidation after ceasing trading earlier this year. Colfax Window Systems Limited fell into liquidation on June 27 2024, with Anthony Milnes and Sean Williams of Leonard Curtis appointed as joint liquidators.
Colfax Window Systems, which was founded in 1980, manufactured, supplied and installed PVC-u windows, doors, French doors, bi-fold doors, patio doors and conservatories throughout Hull and West Yorkshire. The company employed 19 staff and operated from a showroom on Leads Road in Hull.
The company collapsed after efforts to find a buyer or investor for the business proved unsuccessful. The firm subsequently ceased trading in April 2024 and then entered liquidation, with all staff made redundant.
Leonard Curtis restructuring and insolvency director and joint liquidator Anthony Milnes commented: "Despite efforts to find a purchaser or investor to take the business forward, this was unsuccessful and the company ceased to trade around the end of April this year and the employees were made redundant.”
"We are currently assisting the Redundancy Payments Office in dealing with the processing and payment of employee claims for redundancy and their other entitlements.”
"It is unlikely that unsecured creditors will receive any funds back through the liquidation process. Any monies which a customer has paid will form an unsecured claim against the company.”
The firm’s most recent accounts at Companies House, filed earlier this year, cover the year ending December 31 2022. At that time, the company’s current assets were valued at £62,208, while current assets amounted to £166,009.
However, at the time, its net liabilities totalled slightly over £153,000, significantly up from around £55,000 a year earlier.
