Civil engineering and building firm L.G.A. Limited has been placed into administration, with several job cuts made.
Keith Morgan, director at the Cardiff office of Mazars, has been brought in to manage the business’ affairs. He said: “The administrators are continuing to trade the business on a limited basis to carry out certain work in progress.
“Unfortunately, however, the majority of the company’s employees have been made redundant.”
Based in Bridgend and with depots in Cardiff and Swansea, the business has annual sales of £6 million and holds the ISO 9001:2008 accreditation for its management processes.
L.G.A Limited has worked on numerous highway construction projects, highway repairs, street lighting, fencing and pavement improvements, since it was established in 1994. Its clients include several councils located in Wales, including Newport, Bridgend and Vale of Glamorgan. Schemes the business has contributed towards include Cardiff Central Bus Station, and Bridgend Town Centre Gateway Enhancements.
Thirty-two of the total 36 staff at the business have lost their jobs.
Founded by the managing director Mr Albert Birkett, the business doubled in size in a 15-year period. Having won the Investors in People Award, it had a very good staff turnover rate.
