Yet another solar energy company has entered administration following the changes to the Government's feed-in tariff.
Southern Solar was founded in 2002 by Howard Johns but his business came to an abrupt end this week following the announcement of Government proposals to slash financial support for solar energy by up to 87 per cent from January 2016.
The collapse of Southern Solar follows last week's news that Mark Group and Climate Energy, two other green energy firms, entered administration, as more and more firms struggle to stay afloat following the major change in Government support.
Mr Johns gave a statement to BusinessGreen, noting that the cuts in funding mean the firm has “absolutely no certainty over future business”.
He added: “The demise of Southern Solar is the latest example of human misery generated by the misguided policy of the current Government – which is on the wrong side of history, and is acting counter to public opinion.
“Many hard-working families are being hit hard by the policies of a party that professes to support them. The latest cuts are disastrous for all investment in the UK – not just solar and renewable energy.”
Begbies Traynor have been appointed to handle the administration and the future of the company's employees and assets.
