The restaurant chain part-owned by former Big Brother star Shilpa Shetty, V8 Gourmet, has been taken over by appointed administrators from RE10.
Bollywood star Ms Shetty owns a 30 per cent holding in the London-based business, which operates the Bombay Bicycle Club, Vama and Tiffinbites restaurants. She injected £6 million into the company in 2009 before exiting her role as director in late 2010.
V8 Gourmet and Gourmet Creations made a range of Halal-certified ready-made meals and chutneys sold via supermarkets including Tesco. Airline catering business Khana and party planner Silk Events were also part of the V8 Gourmet group.
Joint administrator Nimish Patel commented, “We are continuing to trade V8 Gourmet and the sites of the sub brands, until such time that we can see a way forward for all elements of the business.”
“At present no changes are to be made, and we are working hard to secure the jobs of all 264 employees.”
The administrators are said to be in discussion with a potential buyer.
V8 Gourmet recorded sales of £10.44 million for the year to the end of 2009, with losses of £2.63 million, at its last posting.
