A Scottish golf course and hotel have entered administration partly due to a lack of investment in the area.
The Islay Golf Club and the 16-room Machrie Hotel are now under the control of administrators Blair Nimmo and Tony Friar of KPMG.
Three members of staff have been retained to assist the administrators and to maintain the golf course, while 15 others have been made redundant.
A lack of investment on Islay, consumers' increasingly cautious spending habits, water supply issues and the volatile economic climate have been cited as contributing factors to the group's present situation.
Joint administrator Mr Nimmo said he remained confident about the future of the businesses: "Both the hotel and golf course have excellent reputations and are regarded as destination venues for visitors to Islay.
"Taking Islay's prominence as a tourist hot spot into account with its high number of whiskey distilleries and other attractions, we are optimistic a buyer will be found for this quite excellent facility."
Designer Willie Campbell created the Machrie Golf Links course in 1891. It has, in more recent years, been named as one of the top 100 golf courses in the world.
The hotel and 71-par course are owned by Mendougal and run by Machrie Hotel & Golf Links Ltd. Machrie Hotel has 16 bedrooms, 15 lodges, a restaurant a number of shops. Further assets include land for development.
