Call centre business Res-Q Contact Services Limited has been saved in a pre-pack administration by its directors.
The Hull-based firm, which peaked at a yearly turnover of £5 million, was hit by debts to HM Revenue and Customs.
Nicholas Marshall and Gillian Marchbank were the directors of Res-Q before setting up new company RSE Contract Services Ltd and buying Res-Q’s assets out of administration. The deal has saved Res-Q’s entire workforce of 400 people.
Res-Q Contact Services was set up in 2005 as a 12-seat call centre with a £5,000 grant from Hull City Council’s Acorn Fund. It manages inbound and outbound calls for large clients including energy and utility companies.
Within three years of being established Res-Q’s workforce had grown to 150 people. In 2009, the firm announced its expansion plans that created an additional 200 jobs and using £465,000 of investment from development agency firm Yorkshire Forward.
Director Mr Marshall said: “The business continues to be extremely successful and profitable. We have paid almost £3 million of taxes since the start of the year and feel aggrieved that the Revenue took such a hard stance.
“However, the business has never been better and since the pre-pack administration, the company has employed an additional 45 people.”
Harrisons acted as the administrator for Res-Q Contact Services Limited.
