Power Plate International, the popular manufacturer and distributor of specialist vibrating gym equipment, has called in administrators.
Insolvencynews.com has reported that the company has called in insolvency practitioners, Paul John Clark and Philip Francis Duffy from Duff & Phelps, to handle the administration.
The company has been a major supplier to the chain of Virgin Active gyms and featured heavily in a mass advertising campaign carried out by the chain in London last year, which saw advertising material posted particularly heavily on the London Underground.
It is thought that the company – which has operations and distributors across the globe and operates in London from offices in Marylebone – called in the administrators at the end of last week, after failing to capitalise on the major advertising push or from high-profile celebrity endorsements.
The equipment has been used by some of Wales’s top professional rugby players, and celebrities including Claudia Schiffer and Anna Friel have spoken out in support of the effects of the equipment. Schiffer said, “As a working mother with a hectic work schedule, using the Power Plate machine helps me stay in shape without having to spend hours in the gym.”
