Portsmouth Football Club has put its radio station into administration, and is continuing to broadcast while a buyer is sounded out.
The Portsmouth station, Quay Radio, is a separate entity to the football club and is being run while the administrators, Michael Kiely and Andrew Andronikou of UHY Hacker Young LLP in London, set about selling the business.
Rumour has it that the station could be snapped up by production company Celador and renamed The Breeze, which would combine to create a single brand alongside Play Radio in Southampton and Winchester.
Portsmouth FC chief executive David Lampitt said: "This decision hopefully gives the station the best chance to survive."
"The Quay is an important part of Portsmouth and I certainly hope that it does survive and is able to continue its long relationship with the football club and the city as a whole."
Celador is the production company behind TV shows including The Detectives and You Are What You Eat, films including Slumdog Millionaire, as well as its radio operations.
