Marketing for a sale is set to begin for Starfame Limited, the operator of The Welbeck Hotel in Nottingham, after it was placed into administration.
The Welbeck’s guests have been reassured that business is operating as normal at the hotel, which is located in Stanley Place, off Talbot Street in the city centre.
All deposits and advance payments for rooms are being honoured by the joint administrators, David Bennett and David Dunckley of Grant Thornton UK LLP, who were appointed on 3 February.
The 14 staff of the hotel will remain in their roles, as there are no plans for redundancies.
Mr Bennett explained why the business had found itself in this situation: “The Welbeck Hotel has traded in challenging economic conditions for a number of years but recent cash-flow pressure has resulted in my appointment as joint administrator.
“This city centre hotel, which is well located for corporate and leisure trade, represents a significant opportunity for any investor.”
The three-star hotel has 96 en-suite bedrooms, a 65-cover rooftop, garden restaurant and bar on the fifth floor, as well as conference facilities. It is in walking distance of many of Nottingham’s visitor attractions and Nottingham Trent University.
