Liquidators have been appointed to YNW 2014 Ltd, which runs a children’s Christmas attraction in Yorkshire, after the company came under heavy criticism for the high prices and poor quality of the event.
YNW 2014 trades as Yorkshire’s Magical Winterland in Harrogate, but customers have said the £18 family ticket for the attraction was overpriced, particular because of its poor quality. The 'penguin display' can be seen in the picture.
The Winterland has been forced to close its doors for good and insolvency firm Walsh Taylor has been brought in to assist in placing it into creditors' voluntary liquidation.
Kate Breese of Walsh Taylor commented: "We understand that a number of exhibits for Yorkshire’s Magical Winterland were not delivered on time which caused disappointment for visitors and the company and its staff and which ultimately led to its early closure."
The chances of disappointed customers receiving a refund for their visit to the incomplete Christmas attraction are now melting away and Ms Breese stated that at this stage it is “impossible” to know if they will be able to repay creditors.
She added: "We are working with credit and debit card companies to determine whether those who have paid via this route can claim a refund on their purchase."
Visitors to the Magical Winterland were promised a winter walk, a Frozen sing-a-long and a chance to feed Santa’s reindeer but instead left having seen what the Yorkshire Evening Post has described as a “desolate scene”. The attraction shut after just one day, later re-opening with new decorations, although this did little to stem the tide of criticism and it has now shut permanently.
