De Dietrich Kitchen Appliances, the UK distributor of the French brand Fagor, could be heading for liquidation.
The Basingstoke-based business marketed the Fagor and De Dietrich brands and managed their warranties.
The French parent company has entered administration and the buyer identified for the UK business only wants the De Dietrich arm.
Customers with faulty Fagor appliances such as built-in cookers, fridges, dishwashers, microwaves and other products, will be left to sort out their own repairs and apply for reimbursements from the liquidator – James Cowper LLP.
There are several creditors already, including its French parent company and suppliers, so customers would have to join the back of the queue and realistically expect only partial repayment.
De Dietrich customers may fare better as the probable buyer of the UK arm plans to create a new warranty scheme.
The French parent firm entered administration towards the end of last year, and was purchased by an Algerian business called Cevital, which chose not to buy the UK operations.
Reports on the matter said a deal for a buyer of the De Dietrich portion of the UK business is anticipated soon.
Most of the UK workforce, believed to be below 20 in number, lost their jobs in the spring.
