Mobberley-based Concierge Travel Service Ltd, which took bookings for Go Travel, has fallen into administration.
Sources close to the company said the firm was losing money through its bookings with the Manchester Evening News and decided to put the company into administration
Go Travel is part of the Freedom Travel Group, which works as a holiday broker for a number of newspapers, including the Manchester Evening News. The firm also offered bespoke holidays for individual bookers as well as working with mainstream tour operators.
The Manchester office of Begbies Traynor has been appointed as the official administrators. Concierge Travel Service Ltd's debts are understood to be less than £100,000.
Customers who have booked their holidays through the firm will be relieved to hear that trips will not be affected, however and no customers will lose any money.
All bookings are now being managed by another branch of the Freedom Travel Group, Elite Travel Boutique.
A source close to Concierge Travel Service Ltd said, “The [holiday booking] deals were good for the readers and good for the Manchester Evening News but probably not so good for the business.
“The company wasn’t making money on the deal and there was no point building up more debt,” added the source.
