The West Midlands hotel operator, Fortmere Group, has fallen into administration.
The firm operated three hotels located in Kenilworth, Wolverhampton and Dudley under a franchise agreement with the Ramada Hotel chain. They included the Ramada Warwick Hotel and Conference Centre in Kenilworth, the Ramada Park Hall Hotel and Spa in Wolverhampton – which was the original home of the Earl of Dudley - and the Ramada Birmingham Oldbury Hotel and Conference Centre in Dudley.
Grant Thornton UK LLP has been appointed as the administrator of Fortmere Group and has announced plans to try and sell each of the three hotels off as going concerns.
David Bennett of Grant Thornton UK LLP said, “The three hotels are well-located for both corporate and private trade and we look forward to talking to any parties who may be interested in adding them to their own portfolios.”
Currently, all of the hotels are continuing to trade as normal and there have been no redundancy plans announced for the 145 members of staff, according to the BBC.
Group operations manager of Fortmere Group, Ken Latham, said, “The steep decline in the property market has had a serious impact on operations, which includes the three hotels, and the group are therefore unable to continue to operate these businesses.”
