Dunsley Hall has entered administration after struggling to keep the business going in the tighter economic climate.
Located near Whitby, the Victorian hotel boasts a grand setting located in five acres of landscaped grounds. The hotel itself has suites that can accommodate up to 120 guests and makes much of its income from wedding receptions, conferences and other big events.
Administrators from Begbies Traynor have been appointed to Dunsley Hall. Bob Maxwell is one of the joint administrators. He noted that the difficulties that have plagued Dunsley have troubled other businesses in the UK: “Like a number of other hotels we have been appointed [to] over the last couple of years, the financial problems at Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel have been caused by a slowdown in consumer spending.”
He added that the administrators are continuing to run the business “as normal” while seeking a buyer. A number of interested parties have already approached the sellers about a potential acquisition.
Dunsley bills itself as a “luxury romantic hideaway” that boasts log fires and four poster beds in individually designed bedrooms. As it stands, the business offers the option to drop in for food and drink separately from the hotel service it provides.
