Dublin-based construction firm Acuman Facilities Management, which had household name clients, has entered liquidation.
A newly formed company H&J Integrated Services has taken on some of the senior staff and clients of Acuman, which closed down last week with a total of 40 jobs losses.
Founded in 1997, and bought by the H&J Martin Group in 2009, Acumen counted Asda, TK Maxx, Rabobank and Eireann among its clients.
The business was liquidated on payday, leaving staff confused and out of pocket for the work undertaken during October. An email had been sent round from the director on 10 October to say new employees had been taken on and that the company was heading for further growth.
The director brought in the liquidators two weeks after that email on 24 October, stating that Acuman was “unsustainable and unable to continue trading”.
Acuman worked on various projects including the build of a new media centre for the London Olympics in 2012, and refurbishment of the Guildhall and Ebrington Barracks in Londonderry for the City of Culture events held during 2013.
After revenue dipped in 2006 at H&J Martin, it progressed to see yearly increases until it reached a more stable set of accounts in 2012.
