The business behind a Grade I, grand, stately home in Northern Ireland, Drenagh Farms Limited, has entered administration having been impacted by the tough trading environment.
FRP Advisory partners Jason Baker and Geoff Rowley have been drafted in as the joint administrators, and have retained the staff to trade the business as usual while seeking to achieve a sale of the 19th century home.
The Georgian mansion, located in a 1,000-acre country estate near Limavady, is used as a five-star guesthouse, conference centre and wedding venue. It is run by six staff.
Designed by architect Charles Lanyon, the house was built in 1837 for the McCausland family on its estate owned since the 1700s. In more recent times the estate has been run by family descendant Conolly McCausland.
It is “one of the great country estates of Northern Ireland”, a statement from the administrators reads.
Mr Baker said: “The administration process provides a cushion for the estate to run as normal while a new ownership structure can be established.
“The estate will continue to run as normal and the number of bookings is a testament to the popularity of the house, its grounds and its professional staff.”
