The lingerie manufacturer to Monsoon, EBI Apparel, has entered administration. Joint administrators A Poxton and JM Titley of Leonard Curtis Recovery are continuing to trade the Leeds-based business while a buyer is sought.
EBI Apparel makes lingerie and underwear under licence for its clients, including Pineapple and Monsoon. It has a private label service - which designs and makes clothing for retailers and major supermarkets. The manufacturer also owns the Ballet lingerie brand and works with different licences through its brand and licensing division.
EBI Apparel makes ladies, men’s and children’s underwear, nightwear and swimwear for Avenue LA. It won the licence for Avenue LA in April 2010.
It had plans to launch a new lingerie and swimwear collection called Letters from Evie, with a website, in January this year. The Letters from Evie website does not seem to be operational though.
Established in 2002, it has over 65 employees and has partner factories in various countries worldwide, including a base in Hong Kong. The business had a County Court Judgement for £16,937 issued against it on 15th February.
The lingerie maker announced in November 2010 that it would be donating some Monsoon nightwear to a charity raffle for the Pendleside hospice in Lancashire.
