Several golf courses are currently for sale by different receivers in Ireland, representing attractive opportunities for golfing enthusiasts.
Savills are asking €2.2 million for Turvey Golf and Country Club in north Co. Dublin, and could be sold in two lots. Mark Reynolds of Savills aims to sell one lot comprising the clubhouse and 30 acres near the seaside town of Donabate for leisure usage. The second lot - of 115 acres - has attracted interest from farmers.
Blarney Hotel and Golf resort is being marketed for sale by CB Richard Ellis with a €10 million price tag, and is also selling Kilkea Castle Hotel and golf course in Co Kildare for €6 million. Paul Collins at CBRE says several parties have made their interest in the two properties known.
The receivers at Grant Thornton are selling Limerick County golf and country club in divided parts, and could be suitable for farming, leisure or development. It is expected that €2 million may be achieved from the sale.
Carnbeg golf club and its Park Inn hotel with 84 letting bedrooms in Co Louth are being sold by Morrisseys. The asking price was not revealed.
Other golf courses in receivership or liquidation but not for sale include Palmerstown Demesne in Co Dublin, Moyvalley Hotel and golf resort in Co Kildare, and The Heritage in Co Laois. The majority of the businesses are continuing to trade whilst in the control of receivers.
