Kitley House Hotel, an upmarket hotel in Devon, has been placed into administration, after being hit by sluggish trading.
Christopher Norman and Ian Walker from Begbies Traynor have been brought in to the hotel, which trades from a grade 1 listed building with a 500-year history in Yealmpton, near Plymouth in South Devon. It is to continue trading while a buyer is sought to save the hotel and the future of its 40-strong workforce.
The property is a popular wedding and celebration venue, and its gardens are listed as a Devon County Wildlife Site.
Joint administrator Ian Walker commented on the situation to This is Plymouth, “This is a fine hotel with a great deal of potential as well as a good reputation in the luxury hotel market. We will be working extremely hard to find a buyer for the business so that it can continue to serve guests and contribute to the south west’s economy.”
Any customers who have paid their deposits to the hotel are to make contact with the business and all efforts will be made to honour bookings.
The hotel features its own shooting estate, a restaurant and bar, nearby golf courses, and is well located for established walking routes.
