BemroseBooth Limited, a printing business based in Derby, has entered administration with the potential loss of up to 230 jobs.
Due to the recession and tough competition in the printing industry, the firm has been haemorrhaging cash over the past few years. The company also recently lost a contract to supply Marks & Spencers with gift cards, which was due for renewal.
The workforce of about 230 at the company face losing their jobs, and were sent home yesterday from its two sites at Pride Park and Wyvern Business Park.
The long-established printer specialises in printing chequebooks, gift cards and has been printing corporate tickets for the World Cup taking place this year. Services include the design, manufacture and distribution of its products.
It is believed the printers owes up to £5 million and has £1.5 million worth of orders in its order book. It reported a turnover figure of £55.98m for the year to 3 January 2009, while its total current assets stood at £23.53m for the same period.
The firm was established in 1826 by William Bemrose. Administrators from David Rubin and Partners have been appointed.
The directors of BemroseBooth, Jean-Paul Ansel and Leonard Levie, have recently set up a new business enterprise called BemroseBooth Systems, which was incorporated on June 8.
