Crusader Holidays, the Essex-based coach holiday company, has become the latest established travel firm in the UK to succumb to difficult financial circumstances and call in administrators.
The company, which operates from headquarters in Clacton-on Sea, is now in the hands of administrators from financial services firm Ernst & Young, who will be working to contact customers with future bookings to organise refunds, and will be looking at realising the company's assets.
Crusader Holidays has been organising short break coach holidays in the UK and Europe since 1974, and has been a popular option for people in Essex for nearly 40 years.
Communications director for The Confederation of Passenger Transport UK, John Major, confirmed that the company had entered administration, but said that its membership of the Bonded Coach Holidays Scheme (BCH) meant that its customers' money was protected.
"While appreciating the disappointment and upheaval these situations cause to people looking forward to their holidays, it does highlight the benefits of customers ensuring the package holiday they book is with a company that is the member of the Bonded Holiday Scheme," Mr Major said.
Customers who have already paid for a package holiday through the company, involving coach travel and at least one night's accommodation will get a refund in full.
The business is a turnkey operation with bespoke operating systems, this is achieved by the experienced and technical staff base that run the business day to day.
The company provides PAYE tax payers with assistance in claiming refunds for a variety of criteria, including expenses incurred from working from home, overpayments, and medical expenses.
