The future of Devon-based care home business, Rotel, remains unclear, after it entered administration earlier this month.
The business - which operated the Magnolia Lodge in Torquay, and Overrcliff in Babbacombe - has been in the hands of administrators from Grant Thornton since the beginning of August. The administrators are currently finalising the logistics of closing the two homes, before selling the two premises for development opportunities.
Between them, the homes have recently housed up to 20 disabled adults, in a mixture of single and double rooms. A spokesman for Grant Thornton said that the residents were currently being rehoused and, once they are, the staff of the homes will be made redundant.
The two homes have occupied substantial properties that have significant potential for both commercial and private development.
The local NHS, the Torbay Care Trust, has described the situation as "regrettable". A spokesman for the trust said they appreciated that it was an anxious time for the people involved, but had full confidence, however, that there was capacity in Torbay to provide care for the people affected.
Rotel, which was first founded in 1994, has not commented on the administration.
