Following the administration of the TJ Hughes retail brand, a buyer is being sought for the TJ Hughes department store in Corby, amongst other stores.
TJ Hughes sells discount clothing, accessories and toiletries from its 57 branches all over the UK. The Corby shop, which is located in Willow Place, is just one of the branches being put onto the market as a going concern.
The branch – along with many others – will continue to trade as normal whilst a buyer is found – whilst other stores, including the Kettering-based branch, will be closed down.
Previously, the administrators working on behalf of TJ Hughes, Ernst & Young, had announced that 22 stores across the country were to close.
Corby town centre director for Land Securities, Dan Pickard, told The Evening Telegraph, “It will continue to trade but may be under some other banner. It may not be TJ Hughes anymore. The fact it is continuing to trade is testimony to the success of retail in Corby.
“I am sure their staff are equally pleased. There is still a bit of uncertainty with no purchaser yet. I am sure they are quietly confident they will still have jobs,” Mr Pickard added.
