A five storey Georgian hotel in Brighton has been put on the market after its reality TV star owners Chris Edwardes and Amanda Blanch closed the business just a few weeks earlier.
Local newspaper The Argus has revealed that Blanch House is up for sale for around £950,000 after the owners gave up after struggling with the boutique hotel and dinner club for nine years. In 2009, the couple appeared in the TV show The Real Swiss Family Robinson, where they lived on an island off Pemba in Tanzania for three weeks.
The had hoped that the break would enable them to think through their problems and that they’d come back with ideas and a changed set of priorities that would help them beat back a debt of around a million pounds.
However, the interest payments on the debt proved too much to cope with in the end.
Christies are handling the sale of the property which comprises twelve en-suite letting rooms, a lounge and cocktail bar, plus a 40-cover restaurant and a lower ground floor owner’s flat.
