A construction firm that was hired to refurbish Deeside Fire Station has been placed into administration.
Warrington-based Globe Management Services won the job to extend and update facilities at the station and began work on the £1.9 million project in June.
With the firm now in administration, resulting in 60 jobs being lost, the redevelopment has been halted. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are seeking a new contractor to resume the work.
The joint administrators, Lindsey Cooper and Diana Frangou from Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery, are also now taking care of matters for the parent company Aprillis Holdings.
The companies are no longer trading, and a scaled down workforce is assisting the administrators in their tasks in the short term.
Cash woes have been blamed for the current situation. Lindsey Cooper said: “The financial issues faced by the business were such that the directors had little choice but to place the companies into administration. Regrettably, we have had to make around 60 staff redundant.”
The administrators have also brought in a firm of quantity surveyors to help review about 20 existing building projects in the North West for a mixture of private and public sector customers.
