Administrators from PKF Cooper Parry have been brought into Safety Problem Solutions Ltd (SPS), with its 28 staff made redundant immediately from 31 May.
Based in Hucknall, a town in Nottinghamshire, it provided over 400 driving and safety courses across the UK, with many being funded by the government.
The business ran into difficulties due to tough trading conditions and course funding issues, the administrators said.
“Whilst we always try, where possible, to protect the business and the jobs of the staff, in this case trading on was not practical. We have started a wind down of the business in such a way as to minimise disruption to the learners, whilst protecting as far as possible the position of the company’s creditors,” Nick Edwards, one of the joint administrators, said.
SPS currently has over 850 learners undergoing workplace training and apprenticeships relating to various business industries.
Its main website – safetyproplemsolutions.com - is down at present, but another of its websites – taxitrainingcourses.co.uk – is still live. It shows the business offers taxi NVQs, and also teaches pupils about disability awareness, route planning and other related skills. The website says that the business offers a "huge variety of courses, including taxi courses, apprenticeships and training to individuals and employees in almost any sector or industry".
