Wed, 14 Dec 2011 | ADMINISTRATION
Beetham Hotels Birmingham, which owns the city’s 33-storey Beetham Tower and the leasehold of the Radisson Blu hotel operating within it, has entered administration.
The company has been placed into the hands of Mark Orton, from the Birmingham office of KPMG, and Paul Flint and Brian Green from the financial services firm’s Manchester office.
The hotel is continuing to trade as normal as the administrators work through a restructuring process and the residential section of the tower, at its very top, is unaffected by the administration, according to The Business Desk news source.
Mr Orton said that they were confident for the future of the businesses within the tower, which has quickly become established as a landmark operation for Birmingham. Beetham Hotels Birmingham is part of the Liverpool-headquartered property group Beetham.
“The hotel opened in January 2006 as the Radisson Blu Birmingham and has grown to become one of Birmingham’s premier hotels,” he said. “This is a quality asset in a major city centre and the administration is only due to the financial restructuring of the landlord, which is part of the Beetham property group.”
The hotel is managed directly by Rezidor Hotels UK under the Radisson brand, and that arrangement will continue.
