Daymark Properties Ltd, the firm behind the Amber Wood Care Home in Cheltenham, has been placed into administration.
The news of its failure closely follows Camelot Healthcare’s fall into administration, another failed Cheltenham-based care home operator.
The Amber Wood Care Home operates 66 beds for people with dementia and had only opened in October 2010 – less than two years ago. It features a sensory garden, outdoor dining space and a 16-seat cinema.
The identity of the administrator has not yet been confirmed. It is expected that the care home will be sold as a going concern, though the staff’s positions will hang in the balance.
Bron Williams, adult care services manager told This is Gloucestershire, “Over the forthcoming weeks, we will be working together with the appointed administrators to ensure services continue and residents, relatives and staff are kept informed of all changes.”
Daymark Properties’ accounts are about nine months overdue according to Companies House.
A review was conducted at the care home in November last year, and concluded that the business should hasten to make improvements.
Ian Biggs, South West director for CQC commented on the situation in November, “We are very concerned about how people’s care needs are being met.”
“This warning sends a clear and public message that Amber Wood needs to address this issue as a matter of urgency or face serious consequences.”
