Window and door supplier Launahurst Ltd, trading as Launa Windows, has been placed into administration with administrators appointed to manage the sale process.
Ian Walker and Chris Norman of Begbies Traynor have been brought in to the Newton Abbot-based home improvements firm, which had a 70-strong workforce before 60 of them were made redundant on entering administration.
Mr Walker is confident that it will sell as a going concern due to its good brand name, its long-standing history and its strong reputation.
Founded in 1974 by the current managing director’s father, the family firm is a market leader in uPVC windows, conservatories and doors in the South West of England. Hit by the recession the business also suffered from falling customer spend, and the high costs of its payroll. It reported sales of £5 million in 2011.
Jonathan Hewitt, Launa’s managing director commented on the situation: “Having experienced four previous recessions, and endured numerous other boom-then-downturn periods resiliently, it is with sincere regret that we have unexpectedly tripped at this late stage.”
Numerous subcontractors have stayed on board to finish existing orders and installations.
